Project Compassion Launch, 2016

caritaslaunch2016 350pxFree pancakes and entertainment marked the launch of Project Compassion in the Sandhurst Diocese on Shrove Tuesday, February 9.

Project Compassion is a major fund-raising project of Caritas, a Catholic international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church. It is held each year in Lent, a traditional time of fasting and alms giving.

Students from Catholic College Bendigo spread the message, handing out free pancakes, which symbolise the last day of eating richer, fatty foods before beginning fasting during lent, which began on Ash Wednesday.
