Secondary Schools Ethical Leaders Forum

The day was divided into four sections with expert speakers presenting each focus area. Senior Aboriginal Education Officer, Michael Chisholm from Catholic Education Sandhurst provided an explanation about the difference between Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to County, followed by the Executive Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, Paul Desmond who challenged senior students about ethical leadership and what the world needs from young leaders today.

The third presenter was Principal of Marist College Bendigo, Darren McGregor who spoke about scripture and Jesus as a role model for leadership. To complete the afternoon, students worked with presenter Kate Wilde on the importance of inclusivity, listening to others and working collaboratively.
Students Abbey, Toby, Maya, Abby and Lucy from Catherine McAuley College Bendigo attended the forum during a pupil free day.

“Overall, we’re very glad that we were able to participate in the day and are looking forward to applying the knowledge we gained about faith, leadership and our Catholic values in the year to come.

Thank you to all the guest speakers and the event convenors, Deputy Principal of St Joseph’s College Echuca, Tim Campbell and Principal Consultant: Secondary, Leonie Irwin for providing such a worthwhile forum for student leaders.
