25 Years of Service in Catholic Education

CEO NoelDalyAward2021 FletcherFamily 350The Jubilarian Mass and dinner is a highlight of the Catholic Education Sandhurst calendar each year. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions it has been two years since this event has been held. Fr Joe Taylor presided at this year’s Eucharist which took place at St Brendan’s Church in Shepparton. Seven Jubilarians were able to attend in person, with three Jubilarians in absentia.

The Executive Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, Mr Paul Desmond paid tribute to the ten Jubilarians. “It is fitting that, as an educational community, we gather to give thanks and pay tribute to those who have served Catholic education for 25 years,” he said.

“As a people of faith, it is also appropriate that we acknowledge the richness that each Jubilarian has brought to our Catholic schools. In so doing, we recognise their remarkable contribution which we know is so often borne of long hours and overt commitment to the young people and families who comprise our school communities. These men and women have been authentic gifts to Catholic education here in the Diocese of Sandhurst and beyond,” said Paul.

During the evening, the prestigious Bishop Noel Daly Award for 2021 was presented posthumously to Mr Max Fletcher for outstanding service to leadership in Catholic Education in the Sandhurst Diocese. During his time as teacher, Principal, Secondary Education Consultant, Deputy Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst and Chair of Mercy Board of Education and FCJ Council, Max Fletcher epitomised outstanding service in his chosen profession. Max was always the consummate professional and his personal qualities shone through to all who were privileged to meet or work with him. The Bishop Noel Daly Award was accepted by his wife Loris and their three children, Kristen, Jamie and Kerryn.

The Jubilarian celebration expresses the deep gratitude of the Sandhurst community to those people who have given so generously of their time and talents over many years. Catholic Education Sandhurst congratulates the ten Sandhurst Jubilarians for 2021 and thanks the Fletcher family for accepting the Bishop Noel Daly Award in honour of their much loved husband and father, Max Fletcher, for his outstanding contribution to Catholic Education for over 40 years.
