2020 & 2021 Celebration - Plenary Council Sessions The first Plenary Council Session will be held in Adelaide in October 2020. The work of the first Council session in 2020 will be collated to form a discussion paper for the second Council session in 2021. The second Plenary Council Session will be held in Sydney early in 2021. Delegates, both elected and appointed, representative of the whole Australian Church, will participate at both working sessions. After both Plenary Council sessions are concluded, the Australian Catholic Bishops may have some recommendations for the Australian Church. They will submit these for the Pope’s approval and present a final document for the Catholic people of Australia to guide our journey into the future. 2021 Implementation — Into the future From 2021, the Australian Church will begin to implement the recommendations of the Plenary Council.
