38 Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst Year in Review 2020 Virtual Solidarity “Tell the Bishop I’ll FaceTime him,” said our oldest Sandhurst priest, Fr Owen Doyle. St Liborius’ parishioner and octogenarian, Mary Harrison bought a computer and signed up to Broadband so she wouldn’t miss out on Mass. Many Sandhurst priests kept in touch with parishioners via social media. Fr Joe Taylor reached out with regular online chats and prayers. Fr Junjun Amaya gave an online tutorial to demonstrate his setup to film Mass. The Priests’ Inservice was held via Video Conference. Throughout lockdown priests gathered together for weekly prayer and reflection via Zoom. Kerang, Cohuna and Pyramid Hill parishes joined together for online Mass celebrated by their Parish Priest, Fr Novelito Lim. Every Sunday a guest Homilist joined their gatherings. Held via Zoom, parishioners were able to participate in Reading and singing. Parishioners also took the opportunity to chat with each other before and after the Mass. During lockdown, Sunday Mass celebrated at St Kilian’s by Bishop Shane Mackinlay, was live-streamed and watched by some 1600 viewers each week. At Wodonga Parish, Mass celebrated by Fr Junjun Amaya and Fr Shibu Pezhumthotathil was shared on Facebook. To keep in touch, many priests hand-delivered Parish bulletins to their parishioners, made phone calls and participated in meetings online. IDENTITY & COMMUNITY
