43 IDENTITY & COMMUNITY The Mass celebrated by Bishop Shane on the Feast of St Francis of Assisi on the first day of the Plenary Assemblies was live streamed across the country. The pandemic shaped the way the First Assembly of the Plenary Council was delivered; and no doubt, the way conferences and seminars will be delivered in the future. Outdoor Masses, like the Mass held at the Knights of the Southern Cross’ annual Barney’s Picnic Day at Gehrig Estate Wines, near Barnawatha North, no longer seem unusual. Outdoor Masses took place across the Diocese in 2021.
