CDOS 2022 Year in Review

26 Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst Year in Review 2022 Our staff and volunteers are the enablers of the compassionate and life-changing work we provide to Victorian communities each and every day. Whether they’re on the ground, providing support services to families and individuals in need, or working behind the scenes, each and every person in our CatholicCare Victoria family makes an invaluable contribution to our vision and mission. As of 30 June 2022, our CatholicCare Victoria family was made up of 448 staff and 136 volunteers working across the state. Bringing Centacare Ballarat, CatholicCare Melbourne Gippsland and CatholicCare Sandhurst together to form CatholicCare Victoria (CCV) in 2021 was a ground-breaking project. In 2022, we embarked on the critical work of defining ourselves as an organisation and setting forth our five-year strategy for how we will disrupt disadvantage in Victoria. Drawing our diverse teams and services together into a cohesive and focused organisation is an ongoing work of substantial proportion, and this year we took significant steps towards cementing that vision. Vision, Mission, and Values During 2022, after much consultation and thought, we defined our vision, our mission, and our values. In a letter to staff about the importance of defining our values together, Agnes Sheehan, CEO wrote, “Our Values define what we stand for and guide how we operate, make decisions, behave, and interact with others. Strongly, clearly articulated values can play an important role in building a positive culture at CatholicCare Victoria. We are all responsible for living our Values and therefore it was important that we all had an opportunity to help shape our Values and Behaviours that Matter.” It was for this reason that CatholicCare Victoria undertook a lengthy consultation process to find out which values resonated with staff and reflected the heart of our organisation – both as who we are and who we desire to be. After several months, our values were finalised as: Respectfulness We value people for who they are and recognise what they are doing. We interact with others honestly and in a positive, considerate, and caring manner. Inclusivity We welcome everybody, working to enable everyone to feel like they belong and have a place - from a face to be seen and a voice to be heard. Compassion We connect with each other’s stories. We acknowledge the inherent strengths and diverse experiences of others. We act with kindness and care in all our relationships, helping each other to address our challenges in a safe and welcoming environment. Integrity We value the work we do. We are fair, honest, and trustworthy. We act professionally, take accountability for our actions, and keep our promises. Collaboration We walk alongside clients, communities, and each other. We contribute to the work and lives of others so that we can all achieve our best, together. In collaboration with the Members, we also finalised ourguiding vision and mission.
