St Malachy's Presbytery finds new life as The Kearns Centre
After 16 years of vacancy, the former St Malachy’s Presbytery will soon be buzzing with life and laughter as it re-emerges as the Kearns Centre, home to Nagambie Lakes Community House. The restoration of this elegant heritage building is a testament to the vision and hard work of the Nagambie Parish Council.
Victorian dioceses unite to enhance Catholic social services to those in need
On 1 January 2021, CatholicCare Sandhurst will merge with Centacare Ballarat and CatholicCare Melbourne/Gippsland to form a new entity CatholicCare Victoria.
“It’s a really exciting prospect, which will allow us to build on the mission we share, to build on the strengths of each organisation and make those strengths and expertise more available across the whole state” said Bishop Shane Mackinlay.
Assist A Student Program
The St Vincent de Paul’s Society's ‘Assist a Student Program’ gives you the opportunity to provide funding to support the education of a student in one of their partner countries for one year. In 2020, the program is supporting 2,400 students in Cambodia, Indonesia, Kiribati, Myanmar, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

World Polio Day is observed on October 24 every year, to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, the researcher who led the first team to develop a vaccine against poliomyelitis. He developed the inactivated poliovirus vaccine (1955), after which Albert Sabin developed the oral vaccine which came into use in 1961.
