After the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck the south of Haiti on Saturday August 14, Catholic agencies, Catholic Relief Services (Caritas USA) and Caritas Haiti have been working to provide relief to over 75,000 affected families.

Sandhurst Plenary Council Members (delegates) Bishop Shane Mackinlay, Fr Joe Taylor VG, Fr Brian Boyle EV, Ms Ruth Lawlor and Ms Cathy Jenkins will use the Chancery as a base to participate in the First Plenary Council Assembly, which will now be held completely online. Bishop Shane said although this is not what was hoped for "... the Holy Spirit can and will work through this assembly, just as the Spirit has led us over the past three and a half years."
