The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has agreed to entrust the country to the care of Mary Help of Christians on her feast day, seeking her intercession for the safety of all our people especially in this time of COVID-19 pandemic. 

Mary Help of Christians has been the official patroness of Australia since 1844. Her feast day is celebrated on May 24, which this year coincides with the Feast of the Ascension.

The entrustment will take place in each diocese by the simple prayer included on this folder prayer card , either on Sunday 24th (usual date for the feast) or Monday 25th (transferred date).

Bishop Shane Mackinlay will pray the prayer at the end of Mass in St Kilian’s Church on Sunday 24 May.
