Ethical Issues and Human Ageing

The course will be offered online over six Saturdays:
31 July; 7 and 28 August; 11 September and 23 October:
10.00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. then 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Modules will explore:
Living longer and caring: a “good” old age and “successful” ageing; experiencing frailty; living longer (the desire and the reality); contexts of ageing (e.g. family); the duty to care; virtues and vices of aged people; justice and resourcing aged care.
Burdens of ageing: long-term care; research; competence and aged persons; mental health; dementia.
Challenges for ageing: disability; abuse and neglect; sexuality; restraints; quality-of-life; privacy; confidentiality; use of technology; end-of-life issues; suicide; palliative care; euthanasia.


Learning Options
This course is divided into three modules, each module involves sessions on 2 Saturdays
If you take the course: For personal enrichment or professional development you may opt to participate (as an audit student) in one, two, or three modules that compose the course unit. Cost per module: $220.
For credit toward a postgraduate award, participation in all three modules as required. Cost for unit: $2,640.
