Sheila grew up in Undera and went to boarding school at St Joseph's College, Echuca. After qualifying as a teacher, she took up her position as classroom teacher in 1971.
In 2010 Sheila was the inaugural and most worthy recipient of the Sandhurst Education “Educare" Award for excellence in teaching.
To honour their long-serving teacher, St Mary’s School students created a tribute video. Her grandson Seth takes the lead to thank Sheila for the gifts she has given. The video has been viewed extensively on Facebook where many of Sheila's former students and colleagues have posted messages of gratitude, thanking their wonderful teacher and acknowledging this very special woman.
