The Knights of the Southern Cross Bendigo Branch had much to celebrate at the end of last year, their efforts in faith and fraternity action were acknowledged with a special visit from the State Chairman to this branch of the year 2023. 

The Knights of the Southern Cross Bendigo Branch was pleased to have the State Chair KSC VIC, Paul Mitchell, attend its December Branch Meeting on Thursday 14 December 2023.

The last meeting for the year was cause for celebration not only for a successful year for the Bendigo Branch, but also for Branch Member Michael Hanrahan achieving 60 years of membership.

In October 2023, KSC Bendigo Branch received the KSC VIC State Chairman’s Award for the Branch of the Year 2023 for its conspicuous activity in the community, support of the clergy and Branch Faith and Fraternity action.

For example:

. Donation of $1,000 to Rochester Parish to assist with flood recovery

. Support of the Archbishop’s Dinner/Priests Support and Education Fund

. Sponsorship of the Sandhurst Clergy Golf Day

. A Mass for Deceased Members and ongoing support for the widows of deceased members

. Support of the Sacramental Programs in our Catholic primary schools

. Support of local charities

The State Chairman personally congratulated the Bendigo Branch members on their achievements before presenting Michael ‘Mike’ Hanrahan with a Certificate of Appreciation for his 60 years of Membership, falling due on 30th November 2023.

Paul proceeded to “interview” Michael on his experiences as a member of the Knights to the enjoyment of those in attendance.

A light supper followed the close of the meeting, allowing members to catch up with our State Chairman and express their appreciation of his attendance.
