Parishioners at St Mary’s Parish Echuca have created many opportunities for people to simply enjoy each other’s company and have some fun while raising funds for the parish, the latest being a very successful High Tea. Rob Morris shares the story.

St Mary’s Echuca held a High Tea in St Mary’s Primary School Auditorium on Sunday, 30 June. The occasion was attended by 120 ladies, who enjoyed a banquet of fine food, wine and tea. A delicious range of savoury and sweet food was prepared by the local parishioners. Entertainment by the ‘Locky Ukers’ was a highlight of the afternoon, providing a range of old favourite sing-along songs. The major raffle, a lucky door prize and ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition provided fun for those in attendance and some amazing prizes for the winners.
Major prizes were kindly made available by the Caledonian Hotel, Echuca Square Lotto, and other generous donors. The trivia quiz provided a challenge for each table, with the eventual winners collecting coffee vouchers from the Odd Captain Café in Echuca. A produce table had a variety of local preserves available for purchase. Event Coordinator Jenny Morris was pleased with the event's success and was most appreciative of the many helpers and generous locals who supported the day.
