St Peter's Primary School students showcased their 'Passions and Pathways Project' at Goldfields LLEN 'Brighter Futures Expo' last week.
Teacher, Lillian Daley shared an overview of the project process:
St Peter's partnered with local business, Luchiano's Pizza, and owner, Juliette for their Entrepreneurial Project. Juliette posed a problem to the students: The team at Luchiano’s Pizza has noticed that their pizza sales have slowly been dropping over the last few months. To boost interest in their store and their pizzas, they have been trying to design a new and different pizza.
Juliette visited St Peter's multiple times over the following weeks, answering interview questions from the students and bringing in some fresh pizza dough for students to knead, sample and practise their recipes.
St Peter's were able to spend a morning at the Luchiano Pizza shop, watching the employees prep all the dough and pizza ingredients. Students practised placing orders on the till, learning about the process of sending and receiving orders from the kitchen, and serving customers.
St Peter's students put forward seven pizzas for Juliette and the judging team to sample, with a mix of sweet, savoury and everything in between. After careful deliberation, The Taco Pizza was chosen as the winner of the competition. This was a savoury, tomato-based pizza with the option to add lettuce, tomato and avocado as side dishes, mixing the best of pizza and tacos together.
Staff and students at St Peter’s are very grateful to Juliette and her team at Luchiano’s Pizza, for the opportunities and experiences they provided. The students had an amazing Passion and Pathways experience thanks to Juliette, who went above and beyond for the students, time and time again.
You can now order the winning pizza, The St Peter's Taco Pizza, on the Luchiano's menu.
Thank you, Luchiano's!!!
