Blue for Mary: Cathedral's High-Tech Tribute

On 12 and 13 October, Sacred Heart Cathedral dazzled in Marian blue as part of the Marian Festival, commemorating the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 12 October and the 107th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions on 13 October. It is the first time the Cathedral has lit up in blue with the new lighting system which was installed last year just in time for the global Red Wednesday Campaign.

Interestingly, in 2013 the Cathedral was bathed in blue for Men’s Health Week. The Bendigo District Prostate Cancer Support Group engaged the help of Power AV and Laser Electrical to set up 30 banks of lights boasting 20 globes.

Now, the Cathedral’s new lighting system is a sustainable high-tech wonder, which can be operated via a Bluetooth-connected app. Because who doesn’t want to light up a Cathedral from their phone?
