Priests on Par at Annual Clergy Golf Day

By Kevin Lane.

In Victoria, each Diocese holds an annual clergy golf day. This year, the Sandhurst Diocese held its golf day on Monday 11 November at the Tatura Hill Top Golf and Country Club course.

Representatives from Ballarat, Sale and Melbourne Dioceses were on hand to join their fellow Sandhurst Diocese clergy members in a great day of social activity, with a dinner following the 18 holes of golf.

After some late withdrawals, 13 golfers ventured out on a quite warm day, with all players looking forward to a cold drink afterwards. The 13 golfers were then joined by a further 8 clergy members for the presentation dinner.

The Catholic Development Fund Melbourne combined with the Knights of the Southern Cross Bendigo Branch to sponsor the day, with a number of prizes awarded at the dinner.

Fr Brendan Hogan from the Sale Diocese was the overall winner on the day, a talented golfer for sure.

The golf day is open to non-clergy golfers, so look out for next year’s promotion of the golf day.

Thanks must go to Fr Stephen Bolling from St Liborius’ Parish in Eaglehawk for organising the day.
