'Magnify Sandhurst': launch of new Education Program

In a diocesan first, a comprehensive and exciting new integrated learning and teaching program, ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ was simultaneously launched across fifty-one Catholic Schools in the Sandhurst Diocese on 28 January 2025.

There was a buzz of excitement at each school as staff gathered for a celebratory morning tea at the ready for the live broadcast of the official launch. Every school had planned something special to mark the celebration, with some schools featuring branded cupcakes, t-shirts, decorations, and other fun activities.

Executive Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd (CESL), Ms Kate Fogarty said ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ will be introduced across 2025 to 2027, with each phase designed to bring measurable improvements in each learning environment.

“ ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ is set to transform learning for students with more specific and explicit teaching practices, bringing greater consistency and a more predictable and effective educational experience for all students,” she said.

“The ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ program combines evidence-based practices in teaching and learning to support each student's unique needs, strengths and goals, focusing on strengthening core areas like literacy and numeracy, building supportive classroom environments, and integrating Catholic values in daily learning,” Ms Fogarty said.

“One of the key goals of the ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ approach is to ease the workload of teachers, allowing them to focus more on how they teach rather than what they teach. By following a well-structured, sequential curriculum, teachers will work together to deliver the best possible education.”

Over the past twelve months, CESL has been working with partner organisations, principals and educational experts to bring together this teaching program that will significantly change the way education will be delivered across the Diocese. With world class partners like Steplab, LME Global, Knowledge Society, MultiLit and Ochre Education, ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ is an investment in the future of every child in all fifty-one schools.

With the mantra, “Every student, every teacher, every school, every day”, ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ will enable teachers to create a learning environment that is both supportive and challenging, helping students achieve their full potential.
