Lifeblood: ‘United By Faith Blood Drive’

The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is proud to announce the return of their annual United by Faith Blood Drive, taking place from 1 April to 30 June 2025.

This initiative seeks to bring together donors from various faith-based communities, united by the shared mission of saving lives.
Participants can form Lifeblood Teams, allowing them to not only track the number of donations but also see the tangible impact of their contributions, with each blood donation potentially saving up to three lives.

Donated blood will support patients undergoing cancer treatment or surgery and those suffering from anaemia or complications during childbirth. Additionally, plasma donations will be utilised in 18 life-saving treatments, including those for burns, shock, kidney and liver diseases, and autoimmune disorders.

Materials such as posters, Banners, Text for messages and social media tiles specific for promoting the Blood Drive can be downloaded here.

Teams and team structure
To see accurate information in the Blood Drive report, it is important to make sure the members of your organisation are part of a team, and it is also important that we help you set the correct team structure based on your preferences. The Catholic community is a strong supporter of Lifeblood with a total of 323 Lifeblood Teams including the keyword "Catholic". Please note I am happy to work with you on making sure these team structures and links between organisations are set correctly.

Not yet in a Lifeblood Team?

Join then donate and advocate.:

  1. Join your Lifeblood Team. It’s a group blood donation team, coordinated by a Lifeblood Team Champion, who donate together and individually, to save lives.

  2. Check national blood drive dates or contact your Lifeblood Team Champion for details of your local drive.

  3. Book to donate blood, plasma or platelets during the drive.

What help do we need?
We mainly need help getting this information to prospective donors; we need help raising awareness of the need for blood donations. With 1 in 3 Australians needing blood in their lifetime and only 1 in 30 donating blood, we work hard to raise awareness and ensure our blood supplies stay high enough.

Why is it important to donate blood?

Donated blood helps thousands of people – just like explained in Gennaro's story (video), and you can read more about it here.
