CCR: Pentecost Event Brings Renewal in the Spirit

Catholic Charismatic Renewal prayer groups from across Sandhurst gathered at St Brendan's, Shepparton, on 23 May to celebrate Pentecost and be refreshed and renewed in the Holy Spirit, writes Mary Zobec.

We came together on this special day, with Mass celebrated by Fr Arun Korlakanti SHS and songs of praise and worship led by Brendon Lane. The day concluded with quiet Adoration — a feast of blessings.

Our Catholic Charismatic (CCR) Chaplain, Fr Arun Korlakanti, said that God has called us to be authentic in all that the Holy Spirit calls us to do. This, he said, is a witness to the new life we are all called to live as Christians.

Fr Arun shared that whatever we do, we need to look at life from God's perspective. He also encouraged us to sit with the Holy Spirit as Mary and the Apostles did in the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost. He invited us to ask the Holy Spirit to help us pray for our own needs, our families, friends and the world. The Holy Spirit, he said, will guide, teach, remind and empower us to live a full Christian life.

We also heard from people who shared the wonderful blessings of the Holy Spirit in their lives and the joy of being part of the family of God.
Old friends, new friends and visitors joined together on this special day, celebrating the goodness of God.

Some of the Scriptures proclaimed during the gathering included:

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23).

This wonderful current of grace is given to all. We who walk in CCR are called to reach out to anyone who would like to come, see and grow in the gifts and knowledge of God. True love and friendship begin with God and then flow out to others.

We in CCR continue to pray for the Church and for all people throughout the world. We pray for you. May the Holy Spirit continue to lead us into all truth so that we, the whole Church, may be a light in places of darkness.

God bless you from the CCR Family Sandhurst.
