St Patrick's Catholic Church, Pyramid Hill turns 100!

There was a real sense of celebration and homecoming on Sunday, 24 May, as the Parish of St Patrick’s, Pyramid Hill marked the 100th anniversary of its church.
Built after the original township shifted and the parish grew into a new era, the church has stood as a steady landmark of faith, memory and community life for generations.

To mark the centenary, a special Mass was celebrated, drawing together past and present parishioners, along with families who travelled back to reconnect with their parish roots. The gathering had the feel of both celebration and reunion, as stories, faces and memories from years gone by filled the church once again.

A highlight of the celebration was the presence of Fr Joe Taylor, who returned with strong local ties of his own. Fr Joe spoke warmly of his connection to the area, adding a personal thread to the day’s reflections on parish history.

He also brought with him a historic chalice, gifted decades ago by the Pyramid Hill community to a family priest. The chalice served as a powerful tangible link to the parish’s past, drawing together a century of faith, generosity and shared life around the altar once more.

As the parish gave thanks for 100 years of St Patrick’s, the celebration became more than a milestone—it was a reminder that while buildings stand, it is the people, past and present, who continue to shape their living story of faith.
