On 2 February, Kyabram Parish closed the doors of St Sebastian’s Church, Merrigum for the last time.

In a diocesan first, a comprehensive and exciting new integrated learning and teaching program, ‘Magnify Sandhurst’ was simultaneously launched across fifty-one Catholic Schools in the Sandhurst Diocese on 28 January 2025.

On Saturday 1 February, Mooroopna, Shepparton and Rushworth’s well-known Rogationist priest, Fr Rene Ramirez RCJ was consecrated as Auxiliary Bishop for the Northern Region of the Archdiocese of Melbourne. If you haven’t yet congratulated him, you’ll still have a chance when he celebrates a Mass of Thanksgiving at St Mel’s, Shepparton South on Sunday 9 February at 5:00 p.m.

Monday 10 February will be an emotional day for St Mary’s in Mooroopna as the community farewells Monsignor Peter Jeffrey, who will retire from official appointments on that day after 61 years of priesthood and ten years as their Parish Priest.

Fr John Edward Ryan died on 23 January 2025, at the age of 88, after sixty-one years of faithful service to the people of God. He was a visionary priest whose influence continues to shape the priesthood today.

On 4 December, after considering recommendations by the College of Consultors, Bishop Shane Mackinlay announced new clergy appointments for the Diocese of Sandhurst in 2025.
